A video that has rapidly gone viral serves as a potent and cringe-inducing lesson in the perils of drink-driving, straight from a Florida roadside.
The footage, released by the Martin County Sheriff's Office, shows a woman's spectacularly failed attempt to convince deputies that a single can of Twisted Tea was responsible for her inability to pass a field sobriety test. The encounter quickly unravelled into what authorities have dubbed a 'masterclass in how to get arrested'.
The Tea That Toppled Her
The woman, identified as Tammy, is seen in the clip performing a series of standard tests with disastrous results. Her performance was so poor that it prompted immediate scepticism from the officer about her claim of consuming just one beverage.
'How many Twisted Teas have you had tonight?' the deputy can be heard asking, to which she slurs in response, 'Just one… I just opened it.' Her argument quickly crumbled under questioning, failing to explain why an unopened can was found in her vehicle if she had 'just opened' the one that allegedly caused the issue.
A Viral Warning to Others
The sheriff's office shared the clip on social media with a clear, public safety message: 'This is why you don't drink and drive.' They pointed to her slurred speech, poor balance, and overall failure to follow instructions as textbook signs of impairment.
The video has since been viewed millions of times, with many commentators noting the stark reality check it provides. It stands as an undeniable public record of a DUI arrest, showcasing the moment excuses meet irrefutable evidence.
Tammy was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence. The Martin County Sheriff's Office hopes her story will serve as a powerful deterrent, encouraging others to make smarter choices before getting behind the wheel.
