A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a brutal knife attack in north Belfast that left a victim in a critical condition. The incident occurred in the Kinnaird Avenue area shortly after 10:30 pm on Monday, according to police.

The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained significant wounds to his face, neck, and back. He was rushed to hospital, where his condition is described as serious. A man in his 30s, believed to be Somalian, was detained at the scene and remains in police custody.

Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson stated: "This is a deeply concerning assault and I have declared this a critical incident. We have commenced an investigation to establish a motive."
