Tragedy Strikes Family as Boy, 5, Killed on Driveway

A grandmother has been arrested after she allegedly ran over and killed her five-year-old grandson while driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred on the family's own driveway in a devastating start to the day.

Details of the Fatal Morning

Kristen Anders, 55, was beginning her journey to work at approximately 7:00 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, when the tragedy unfolded. As she pulled her SUV out of the driveway at her home on the 300 block of Spartan Loop, she allegedly struck her grandson, Carson Lawson, head-on.

The young boy, who had just celebrated his fifth birthday in June, was waiting for his school bus at the time. Police reports state that Anders was suspected to be under the influence of both alcohol and sedatives at the time of the collision. She immediately stopped the vehicle upon realising what had happened.

Community and Family Reeling from Incident

Slidell Police Department Chief Daniel Seuzeneau described the event as profoundly distressing for all involved. "This is any parent's worst nightmare," Chief Seuzeneau stated. "I just want everybody to understand that this is a very tragic situation for this family, because not only did they lose their precious five-year-old child, they’re also having to deal with the fact that the grandmother is now under arrest for this incident."

He confirmed that the scene deeply affected the first responders who attended. Anders was arrested at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation into the death of her grandson. The location is approximately 28 miles northeast of New Orleans.

An autopsy for Carson Lawson is scheduled to be held in due course as the investigation into his tragic death continues.
