Cruz Beckham, the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has been left 'gutted' after his driving licence was revoked just two years after he first passed his test.
The Speeding Offences
The 20-year-old's licence was cancelled after he accumulated six penalty points for two separate speeding offences. One of these incidents occurred in a 20 mph zone, a limit common in residential areas across the UK.
Cruz himself appeared to reference one offence on social media back on 2 September, posting on Instagram that he'd 'just got done for doing 24 in a 20'.
The Legal Consequences
Under Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) rules for new drivers, if a motorist gains six or more penalty points within two years of passing their test, their licence is immediately revoked.
This means Cruz cannot simply wait for the points to expire. He must now start the process from scratch, which involves reapplying for a provisional licence and passing both the theory and practical driving tests again before he is legally allowed to drive solo.
A Family History with Motoring Offences
The revocation is a particular blow for Cruz, who is known to be a car enthusiast, much like his famous father, David Beckham.
David has also faced his own legal battles on the road. In 2018, he avoided prosecution for allegedly driving 59mph in a 40mph zone after his lawyer, Nick 'Mr Loophole' Freeman, successfully argued the speeding notice was served a day late.
Freeman also previously helped the former England captain overturn an eight-month driving ban in 1999 by arguing Beckham was trying to evade paparazzi.
The Beckham family's driving troubles don't end there. Cruz's older brother, Brooklyn, has also caused concern after posting videos of himself speeding on a motorbike without a helmet in Los Angeles.
A source close to Cruz told The Mail: 'Cruz is gutted about it. It was a couple of speeding tickets which are so easy to come by these days with 20mph zones. It’s infuriating but he seems to have accepted it and taken it on the chin.'
