In a case that has sent shockwaves through North Dakota, a 37-year-old woman stands accused of a premeditated and brutal hatchet attack on her own boyfriend inside a Fargo hotel room.
Lena Deoliveira now faces the severe charge of attempted murder, a class A felony that carries a potential life sentence, following the horrific incident that left her partner with critical injuries.
A Night of Unfolding Terror
The grim sequence of events began on the evening of September 12th at the Radisson Hotel in Fargo. According to court documents, what started as a verbal altercation swiftly escalated into unimaginable violence.
Police reports state that Deoliveira allegedly retrieved a small hatchet from her vehicle before returning to the room. It was there she is accused of launching a savage assault on the 38-year-old victim as he lay in bed.
A Fight for Survival
The victim, whose identity remains protected, suffered catastrophic wounds in the attack. He managed to make a desperate escape from the room, fleeing into the hotel hallway where he collapsed, bleeding profusely.
Hotel staff quickly responded to the scene, administering first aid and calling emergency services. The man was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for his life-threatening injuries.
The Investigation and Arrest
