Two young boys who tragically lost their lives in a house fire in Wolverhampton have been formally identified. The victims are J'Saun, aged three, and Xaliq, aged one. The fatal incident occurred on Friday last week when firefighters were called to a burning property on Mason Street.
Emergency Response and Tragic Outcome
Upon arrival, firefighters entered the building and rescued the two children. Despite prompt medical attention at the scene, both boys were pronounced dead. Two other children and a woman had already escaped the property before emergency services arrived. They were assessed by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
Arrest and Investigation
A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children. She has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. West Midlands Police confirmed they are working alongside the fire service to determine the cause of the blaze.
Detective Inspector David Cooper stated: 'Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire continues. We are supporting the family of the two young boys at this devastating time.'
Scene and Family Appeal
On Saturday morning, forensic officers in protective gear were seen entering the property. The house showed signs of severe damage, with scorched walls, smoke-blackened windows, and debris including a mattress on the road outside. The family of the boys has requested privacy as they grieve.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them via 101, quoting log 5640 of 24 April.
