
A man has been shot dead in Wakefield in what detectives suspect was a deliberate attack. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Wakefield Drive, Eastmoor, following reports of gunfire late on Tuesday evening.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. West Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation and are treating the incident as a targeted attack.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of West Yorkshire Police urged anyone with information to come forward. "This was a horrific act of violence, and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice," he said.
Officers remain at the scene conducting forensic examinations, while increased patrols have been deployed to reassure the local community.
Community in Shock
Residents in the area described hearing loud bangs before police arrived. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "It’s terrifying to think something like this could happen here."
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim but confirmed they are working to inform his next of kin.
