Two people have died after being pulled from the water at Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall.

Incident details

Emergency services were alerted at around 9.45pm on Sunday 26 July. The South Western Ambulance Service notified Devon and Cornwall Police after two individuals were recovered from the sea.

A cordon was put in place at the beach but has since been removed.

Victims and next steps

A spokeswoman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Sadly, a man and a woman were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their families have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.”

She added: “A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
