Two Men Arrested in Westminster Murder Investigation Following Fatal Stabbing
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Westminster, central London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests of an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old in connection with the incident, which occurred on Abbey Orchard Street late on Friday evening.
Victim Named as Farmanullah Sherzad
Police have officially identified the victim as Farmanullah Sherzad, aged 26. Officers were called to the scene at 10:17 pm on March 27 following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered Sherzad with multiple stab wounds and administered first aid before the London Ambulance Service transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination has confirmed that Sherzad's death resulted from multiple sharp force trauma injuries, consistent with a stabbing attack. The investigation remains active and complex, with detectives working diligently to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome.
Police Provide Updates and Reassurance
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, stated: "These arrests mark significant progress in what continues to be a fast-moving and complex investigation. We can now also name the victim as 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad. Our thoughts remain with his family as they continue to process this devastating loss."
To address community concerns, the Metropolitan Police have announced that extra patrols will be conducted in the Westminster area over the coming days. Officers will be available to speak with residents and provide reassurance as the investigation unfolds.
