Far-right figure Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, widely recognised as Tommy Robinson, has been informed he will face no further police action over a heated altercation with officers at Leeds Bradford Airport. The decision comes after a lengthy review by a separate constabulary.
The incident, which unfolded in front of startled travellers, was captured on video and subsequently went viral on social media. It showed a tense exchange between Yaxley-Lennon and airport police, though the specific catalyst for the confrontation remains undisclosed by authorities.
In a significant twist, the encounter has triggered a separate, ongoing misconduct investigation into the conduct of the attending officers from West Yorkshire Police. The force referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which subsequently delegated the investigation to another police service.
Despite this internal probe, the reviewing force concluded that there was insufficient evidence to pursue any criminal charges against Yaxley-Lennon. A spokesperson confirmed the outcome, stating: "We have concluded our investigation and can confirm that no further action will be taken against the man involved."
The original video footage, which prompted widespread debate, showed Yaxley-Lennon being instructed to leave the airport premises. The situation escalated quickly, leading to his brief detention before he was ultimately released from the scene.
This outcome marks another controversial chapter for the activist, who has previously been at the centre of numerous legal battles and public scandals. The conclusion of this investigation will likely fuel further discussion on police conduct and the treatment of high-profile individuals.
