The body of a teenager, believed to be aged between 15 and 17, has been found floating in a drain near Jagatpur Metro Station in Delhi, India's capital.
A passerby spotted the body in the water on Thursday and alerted police. Officers from Wazirabad police station arrived at the scene with forensic experts.
Recovery and Initial Examination
Divers from Delhi's Boat Club were called in and managed to retrieve the body from the drain after what was described as a "considerable effort". A preliminary examination found no apparent injury marks.
The body has now been sent for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police Investigation
Police are trying to identify the teenager and have alerted nearby police stations for help. Investigators are considering whether the youngster could have been murdered and their body dumped in the drain.
However, officers are also looking at the possibility that the death was an accident. Police said the teenager may have drowned while bathing in the water.
