A humanities teacher has been permanently banned from the classroom after engaging in sexually explicit conversations with a 13-year-old girl on social media platforms. Liam Walker, 31, who taught at Sir William Stanier School in Crewe, Cheshire, used the usernames 'HungTeacherMeet' and 'Fit Teacher' to communicate with the victim, referred to as Child A, over a one-week period in August 2024.
Details of the Misconduct
The Teaching Regulation Agency panel found that Walker initiated contact with the child on Snapchat and an online chatroom. Despite being told during their first exchange that she was only 13, he continued to send sexualised messages. The panel heard that Walker asked intrusive questions about her sexual history and made remarks such as 'are you looking for sex?'
Panel's Findings
The panel concluded that Walker's actions represented a 'serious departure from the personal and professional conduct elements of the Teachers’ Standards' and constituted 'sexual misconduct'. The prohibition order was imposed to maintain public confidence in the teaching profession.
Impact and Aftermath
Walker has been indefinitely barred from teaching in any school in England. The decision ensures he cannot work in educational settings without the possibility of review. The case highlights the ongoing risks posed by online communication between adults and minors, particularly in positions of trust.
