Teacher and Baby Daughter Fatally Stabbed in Belivah Home

A man has been charged with two counts of murder after allegedly stabbing his partner and their baby daughter to death in a tragic incident in Belivah. Kate Paterson, 37, a Year 5 teacher at Windaroo State School, and her 11-month-old daughter April were found by police with fatal stab wounds on Thursday morning.

Police Response and Discovery

Police initially responded to reports of a pedestrian with a neck wound who was hit by a car outside a nearby Woolworths on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn around 7.30am. When officers went to an address 300 metres away in Belivah to alert the man's next of kin, they discovered the bodies of Ms Paterson and her daughter.

Trail of Blood and Suspect's Condition

A trail of blood led from the home to where the father, 38-year-old Blake Seers, was struck by a ute. He was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition and remains unconscious under police guard. Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn confirmed that all three individuals lived at the home where the deceased mother and daughter were found.

Both victims died from critical injuries caused by an edged weapon, according to police. Witnesses raised the alarm after seeing a man covered in blood running along a footpath before he was hit by a black utility about 300 metres from the family home.

Crime Scenes and Investigation

Two crime scenes were established following the discovery of the woman and baby at the Belivah residence near Logan. Evidence markers were placed along the footpath, marking the trail of blood leading from the house in the hours after the killings.

Seers, who suffered serious injuries, remains in hospital and is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court by video link on Wednesday. Police confirmed on Tuesday night that Seers had been charged with two counts of murder.
