Surrey Police has announced that it is investigating two separate allegations of non-recent child sexual abuse, following the release of the Epstein files by the US Department of Justice.
Details of the Allegations
In a statement, Surrey Police confirmed that one report relates to locations in Surrey and Berkshire during the mid-1990s to 2000. The other allegation pertains to the mid to late 1980s in West Surrey. No arrests have been made in connection with either case.
The force said: "Following the release of files relating to Jeffery Epstein by the US Department of Justice, we are investigating two separate allegations of non-recent child sexual abuse. One report relates to locations in Surrey and Berkshire in the mid-1990s to 2000. The other relates to the mid to late 1980s in West Surrey. No arrests have been made."
Police Commitment to Investigating Sexual Offences
Surrey Police emphasised its commitment to tackling sexual offences, stating: "We take all reports of sexual offending seriously and will work to identify any reasonable lines of enquiry to verify information or establish corroborating evidence. There is no further information at this time. Any future significant updates will continue to be provided on this page."
The investigations come after the US Department of Justice released files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, prompting authorities in the UK to review any potential links. Surrey Police is now pursuing these two distinct lines of inquiry, focusing on historical abuse allegations that span several decades.
Authorities have urged anyone with information related to these cases or other instances of child sexual abuse to come forward. The force has not disclosed further details about the victims or suspects, citing the ongoing nature of the investigations.
This is a developing story, and further updates are expected as inquiries progress.
