Police respond to 'knock a door run' on Tameside estate

Police officers were called to a Tameside estate on Saturday evening (October 24) following reports of youths playing 'knock a door run' in the area. Officers from the Ashton Hurst Neighbourhood Team attended reports of anti-social behaviour on the Hartsmead Estate in the Hurst area of Ashton-under-Lyne.

Residents report 'knock-a-door-runaway'

In an update on Greater Manchester Police's 'Bee in the Loop' app, residents were told about the reported behaviour. "The reported behaviour involved unknown youths carrying out what is commonly known as 'knock-a-door-runaway'," the update read.

"During our visit, we were informed that other residents and addresses on the estate may have experienced similar incidents. However, a review of police records has identified no additional reports relating to this behaviour at this time."

Police open Problem Solving Record

A 'Problem Solving Record' has been set up for the estate, which will remain open for the next month. It is intended to help officers 'build an accurate picture' and 'identify repeat locations or offenders', they said.

"Whilst some incidents may not constitute criminal offences, they can nevertheless have a significant impact on individuals, families and neighbourhoods," the letter continued. "We recognise that behaviour which may appear minor or low-level in isolation can have a considerable effect on those affected, particularly where incidents are repeated or form part of an ongoing pattern."

Residents are encouraged to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour occurring in the area through the portal.
