Police Impose Dispersal Order After Bolton Town Centre Disturbance Involving 60 People

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have imposed a dispersal order in Bolton town centre following reports of anti-social behaviour and criminality involving a group of up to 60 individuals. The order, which came into effect on Saturday evening, gives officers the power to order suspected troublemakers to leave the area or face arrest.

Police, including riot-trained Tactical Aid Unit officers, and paramedics were seen gathering near the McDonald's on Knowsley Street. Pictures from the scene showed multiple police vehicles and an ambulance.

The 'section 34' order is in place until approximately 2am on Sunday. Inspector Nick White of GMP's Bolton division said: 'The reported behaviour of those involved, putting members of the public at risk, will not be tolerated. Bolton should be a safe place for all those who wish to visit to make use of facilities within the town centre.'

GMP stated that the action follows 'a number of reports of anti-social behaviour and criminality involving a group of up to 60 individuals in and around the Market Place area'. The order aims to tackle these issues with an emphasis on public safety. Residents and visitors can expect an increased visible police presence, and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers on the ground.
