Julia Bradbury Shuts Down Terminal Cancer Rumours After 'Death Looked Me in the Eyes'

Countryfile presenter Julia Bradbury has dismissed speculation that her cancer is terminal, clarifying that she received the all-clear after her breast cancer diagnosis. The 55-year-old underwent a single mastectomy in 2021 to remove a tumour discovered during the 2020 lockdown.

In an interview with The Times, Bradbury revealed that doctors warned her that drinking more than four units of alcohol per week increases her risk of recurrence by 28%. She has since stopped drinking entirely, stating that 'death looked me in the eyes' but emphasising she was not close to death.

Bradbury addressed social media pushback, saying: 'People go, "I was healthy, I go to the gym, I got cancer, and now it's metastasised, and I've got secondary cancer. So, are you blaming me for my illness?" No. All I'm saying is, this is what I went through. It was a wake-up call.'

The presenter now prioritises her health with a daily routine including exercise, a healthy diet, breath work, and meditation. She spends time outdoors every day, a promise she made after her mastectomy, and devotes more time to her three children: Zephyr and twin daughters Xanthe and Zena.

Bradbury has written six books on walking and a health tips book, 'Hack Yourself Healthy'. Reflecting on her diagnosis, she described it as 'completely terrifying' but said she quickly became 'the journalist on myself' to research cancer and treatment.
