PC faces misconduct hearing over hotel bar disclosure

A North East police officer is set to face misconduct proceedings after she allegedly disclosed sensitive policing information to a man while at a busy hotel bar. PC Abbie Henry 3259 stands accused of breaching the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to confidentiality, honesty and integrity, as well as discreditable conduct.

Three allegations to be heard

The Cleveland Police officer will face three allegations at a misconduct hearing scheduled to begin next week. It is alleged that between 9.30pm and 11.59pm on 12 July 2025, while with 'Mr B and other friends', PC Henry "disclosed sensitive and/or confidential policing information to Mr B, having been involved in an ongoing investigation, without a legitimate policing purpose or authority" at a busy bar at the Zetland Hotel in Marske, Teesside.

She is further accused of having "engaged in exchanging texts with Mr A, using Mr B's mobile phone" during the same time period. PC Henry is also alleged to have continued socialising with Mr B despite establishing that he was related to Mr A, a suspect in an ongoing investigation, by:

  • consuming alcohol with Mr B during the material period at the bar.
  • attending Mr B's flat between 12am and 1am on 13 July 2025, reports Teesside Live.
  • exchanging numbers and thereafter text messages with Mr B with a view to meeting socially in the future

Gross misconduct assessment

A notice of hearing document, published on the police force's website, confirms that the allegations have been assessed as gross misconduct if proven.

The misconduct hearing is due to commence at 10am on Monday, October 12, and is expected to run until Wednesday, October 14.
