A quiet street in Peterborough has become the centre of a major murder investigation after a horrifying discovery during a house fire on Saturday evening.

Cambridgeshire Police were called to the scene on Friday Bridge, Eastfield at approximately 6:20 PM after reports of a severe blaze engulfing a property. Firefighters from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service battled the intense flames, making a grim discovery once the fire was extinguished.

Tragically, they found the body of a woman inside the burnt-out home. The discovery immediately triggered a major police response, with detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit taking over the investigation.
