A quiet village in Northern Ireland has been left in shock after a horrific shooting incident claimed the lives of a mother and her three young children. The tragedy unfolded in Maguiresbridge, County Fermanagh, where police are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide.
The victims have been named locally as a 35-year-old woman and her children, aged between 5 and 10 years old. Neighbours described the family as "lovely people" who were well-known in the close-knit community.
Police Investigation Underway
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers were called to the property late last night following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered the four bodies inside the home.
Chief Inspector David Henderson stated: "This is an utterly tragic incident that has devastated a family and shocked the entire community. Our thoughts are with the extended family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time."
Community in Mourning
Local residents have been leaving flowers and tributes near the family home. The local primary school where two of the children attended has opened its doors to provide counselling support.
Reverend Thomas Wilson, a local clergyman, told reporters: "The whole village is in deep shock. This was a respected family who were very much part of our community. We're all struggling to comprehend this terrible loss."
The police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
