Mother's Desperate Warning
In a chilling revelation, officials confirmed that the mother of one of the suspects had called 911 at approximately 9:42 a.m. on Monday, hours before the attack. She reported that her son had run away, might be suicidal, and had taken her vehicle along with several weapons, including a 9mm handgun, a shotgun, and a Mini-14 rifle. Despite this warning, the tragedy unfolded the following day.
The Attack
The two suspects, aged 17 and 18, were found dead a few blocks from the Islamic center. Evidence of "generalized hate rhetoric" and anti-Islamic writing was found in their vehicle, according to officials. The deceased security guard is being hailed as a hero for preventing further casualties.
