Oxfordshire police have launched a major search operation for 36-year-old Gus Lamon, who vanished during a spiritual walk in the countryside near Kingham. The mysterious disappearance has left friends, family and authorities deeply concerned for his welfare.
The Last Known Movements
Mr Lamon was last seen on Tuesday afternoon when he embarked on what friends describe as a "spirit walk" - a shamanic practice involving connecting with nature through solitary walking. He had told companions he intended to undertake this spiritual journey in the rolling hills surrounding the picturesque Cotswolds village.
When he failed to return by nightfall, concerned friends immediately alerted authorities. "This is completely out of character for Gus," stated one close friend who wished to remain anonymous. "He's an experienced outdoorsman and deeply familiar with these paths."
Intensive Search Operation Underway
Thames Valley Police have deployed multiple specialist teams including search dogs, drone units and the police helicopter in their efforts to locate the missing man. Local mountain rescue teams and volunteers have joined the operation, combing through dense woodland and open fields across a widening search radius.
Police Sergeant Emma Carter, leading the operation, told reporters: "We're extremely concerned for Gus's welfare. The weather has been particularly changeable, and while he's experienced in outdoor activities, he wasn't equipped for an overnight stay."
Appeal for Public Assistance
Authorities are urging anyone who might have seen Mr Lamon or has any information about his whereabouts to come forward immediately. He was last seen wearing walking trousers, a green waterproof jacket and sturdy hiking boots.
Local residents have been asked to check their outbuildings, sheds and any areas on their properties where someone might have sought shelter. Motorists who travelled through the Kingham area on Tuesday afternoon are also being encouraged to review any dashcam footage that might capture Mr Lamon.
Growing Concern Among Community
The close-knit community in and around Kingham has rallied together, with many locals joining organised search parties. Village shops have displayed missing person posters, and social media groups have been flooded with offers of help and support.
Mr Lamon's family have released a heartfelt statement: "We're desperately worried about Gus and just want him home safe. He's a kind, spiritual man who finds peace in nature. Please, if anyone has seen him or knows anything, contact the police immediately."
The search continues as police work against time to find the missing spirit walker before night falls again.
