A decorated US Marine veteran has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a violent road rage incident that saw an Uber vehicle targeted in a shocking shooting attack in Texas.
The confrontation unfolded on Saturday night in the city of Killeen, leaving two Uber passengers with gunshot wounds after the suspect allegedly opened fire on their vehicle.
Military Background and Serious Charges
The accused, identified as 36-year-old Patrick Bateman, faces two counts of attempted murder following the dramatic incident. Bateman, who reportedly served as a Marine with multiple combat deployments, now finds himself on the opposite side of the law.
According to Killeen police, the shooting occurred around 11:30 PM local time when Bateman allegedly became involved in a road dispute with the Uber driver.
Chaotic Scene and Emergency Response
"The suspect produced a firearm and discharged multiple rounds into the victim's vehicle," police stated in their official report. The hail of gunfire struck two passengers inside the Uber, though authorities have confirmed their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots. Police quickly identified Bateman's vehicle and initiated a pursuit that ended with his apprehension without further incident.
Weapon Recovered and Investigation Ongoing
