Manhunt after dog walker, 64, found dead in woods

A manhunt has been launched for two men after the body of a dog walker was found in woodland in Wiltshire. Graham Pennycook, 64, was discovered dead in woods near a polo field in the village of Perham Down on September 24. He was a royal engineer.

Murder investigation launched

A murder investigation was opened following a post-mortem, according to Wiltshire Police. Det Ch Insp Phil Walker from the force has appealed for information from anyone who saw two males who looked "out of place" in the woods that morning.

Mr Walker said it is now four weeks on from Mr Pennycook's death, but the police remain committed to finding out exactly what happened to him and who is responsible.

Appeal for witnesses

He added: "I am really keen to hear from anyone who witnessed two males that looked out of place, or were acting suspiciously, in the woods on the morning of September 24, especially between 10am and 11am."

Police also want anyone who saw vehicles being driven erratically or that appeared in an unusual place to get in touch. Mr Walker said he was grateful for support from the local community, but he believes there are people who were in or near Perham Down who have not yet come forward.

Community urged to come forward

Mr Walker said: "I would urge you to engage with our investigation." He described the area as a popular place for dog walkers, bike riders and people exercising, adding: "September 24 was no different."

"If you were there that day and haven't yet done so, please contact us, as you may hold vital information. If you know who is responsible, you can help us seek justice for Graham's murder."

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
