The 38-year-old suspect, Reece Jackson of Barnard Close in Epping, was swiftly apprehended at the scene. He has since been charged with attempted murder and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
District Judge Christopher Williams remanded Jackson into custody ahead of his next appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday, 7 June.
