A makeshift blade allegedly used to kill Ian Watkins has been pictured for the first time after a court heard that inmate Rico Gedel used it to slash the throat of the disgraced former Lostprophets frontman.
Court Proceedings
Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, are charged with murdering Watkins at HMP Wakefield on October 11. During the hearing, the prosecution presented the weapon, a crude knife fashioned from a piece of metal or plastic, which was shown to the jury.
The court was shown the knife allegedly used to murder the paedophile singer, who was serving a 29-year sentence for child sexual offences. The image of the blade has now been released to the public.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, Gedel used the makeshift blade to slash Watkins' throat in a violent attack at the high-security prison. The incident has sparked renewed scrutiny of security measures within UK prisons.
This is a breaking news story, and further updates are expected as the trial continues.
