Law enforcement is responding to an active shooter situation at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, as confirmed by Governor Jeff Landry on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities Respond to Mall Shooting
Governor Landry stated on social media, "I am in coordination with law enforcement and we will update as we know more. Please avoid the area." The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that two individuals are in critical condition, and several others sustained injuries, according to WAFB. The incident is believed to have occurred near the mall's food court.
Political Figures React
Senator Bill Cassidy of New Orleans expressed his concern, saying, "I am closely tracking the reports of a shooting coming from the Mall of Louisiana. I am hoping for the full recovery of everyone that was injured. Thank you to the Baton Rouge Police Department along with all responding agencies for their swift action."
Authorities are actively searching for at least two suspects. Paramedics have established a triage center at the scene to treat the wounded. Ten people have been transported to local hospitals for medical care.
