Legally Blonde The Musical was abruptly halted during a matinee performance at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth on Wednesday as emergency services rushed to the scene following a medical episode involving a member of the audience.
Emergency Response at Theatre Royal
Ambulance and fire crews were called to the venue after an audience member reportedly suffered seizures. The performance was stopped as crews responded, and the individual was safely removed from the building. Witnesses reported a significant emergency service presence outside the theatre, with at least three ambulances and a fire engine visible.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “We assisted the ambulance service in safely removing a person experiencing seizures from the building.”
Performance Resumes After Incident
Following the incident, the show was able to resume. A spokesperson for Theatre Royal Plymouth expressed gratitude: “During the matinee performance of Legally Blonde The Musical today (3 June 2026), a member of the audience experienced a medical emergency. The situation was promptly attended to by the emergency services and theatre staff, and the performance was able to resume.”
The theatre thanked “the audience, cast, crew, and emergency responders for their calm and considerate response.”
