A convicted murderer unleashed a horrific courtroom tirade against his victim's grieving family, shouting "little girl" as he was sentenced for the brutal killing of 34-year-old Rebekah Campbell.
James Peachy, 31, showed no remorse as he was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 26 years at Reading Crown Court for what the judge described as a "savage and sustained" attack.
Chilling Courtroom Confrontation
In a moment that left the courtroom stunned, Peachy directed his venom toward Ms Campbell's family members as they bravely read victim impact statements. The convicted killer interrupted proceedings with his cruel outburst, demonstrating complete lack of remorse for his horrific actions.
Security personnel quickly intervened as the tension in the courtroom escalated, with Peachy needing to be restrained during the emotional sentencing hearing.
A Life Cut Short
Rebekah Campbell, described by her heartbroken family as "the most beautiful, caring person you could ever meet," was found with multiple stab wounds at a property in Basingstoke Road, Reading on November 12 last year.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following concerned calls, but despite their best efforts, Ms Campbell was pronounced dead at the location.
Police Investigation and Conviction
Thames Valley Police launched an immediate murder investigation, with Detective Chief inspector Stuart Bosley stating: "This was a brutal attack on Rebekah, who had her whole life ahead of her."
Following a thorough investigation and trial, the jury found Peachy guilty of murder, accepting the prosecution's case that he had carried out a vicious and unprovoked attack.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
In an emotional statement, Rebekah's family remembered her as "the life and soul of every party" who "would do anything for anyone."
They spoke of their unimaginable pain, saying: "Our lives will never be the same without her. She was taken from us far too soon in the most horrific circumstances."
The family also expressed gratitude to the emergency services and prosecution team who helped secure justice for Rebekah, though acknowledging that no outcome could truly heal their devastating loss.
