A massive fire engulfed a warehouse in north London on Thursday night, prompting a major response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB). Approximately 150 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze at a two-storey warehouse on Oxgate Lane in Brent.
Evacuations and Safety Measures
The LFB evacuated around 70 residents from nearby homes as a precaution while crews worked to bring the fire under control. A statement from the brigade confirmed that most of the warehouse in the business park was ablaze, with the roof also alight. A significant amount of smoke was produced, leading to advice for local residents to keep doors and windows closed.
Firefighting Response
Firefighters from Hendon, Willesden, West Hampstead, and surrounding stations attended the scene after more than 70 calls were received. The brigade used four turntable ladders and a high-volume pump to tackle the fire. Edgware Road was closed between Dollis Hill and Staples Corner, and Oxgate Lane was shut to traffic.
No injuries were reported, and the LFB said the blaze was under control by 6am on Friday. In a statement on X, the LFB said: "The fire on Oxgate Lane, Brent, is now under control. Crews have worked hard over night to contain the flames, and will continue through the morning to extinguish the remaining pockets of fire."
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and an investigation is expected to begin.
