Gym Member Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Alleged Stabbing of Planet Fitness Employee
A 28-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a Planet Fitness worker multiple times at a gym in Philadelphia. The violent incident occurred after the suspect was reportedly kicked out of the facility due to unpaid membership bills, according to police authorities.
Details of the Violent Altercation at the Philadelphia Gym
Davier Massey, aged 28, is accused of attacking the male employee at the Planet Fitness location in Cheltenham Township on Thursday afternoon. Police officers responded to emergency calls at approximately 12:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing at the fitness center.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the employee suffering from multiple stab wounds that were described as life-threatening. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby trauma center for emergency medical treatment.
Police Investigation Reveals Disturbing Pattern of Behavior
According to the Cheltenham Township Police Department, Massey had previously been banned from the Planet Fitness facility but returned the following day on two separate occasions. During his second visit, a physical confrontation escalated dramatically when Massey allegedly produced a weapon and stabbed the employee repeatedly.
Police apprehended Massey a short distance from the crime scene shortly after the violent attack occurred. The swift police response enabled authorities to take the suspect into custody without further incident.
Multiple Serious Charges Filed Against the Alleged Attacker
Massey now faces a comprehensive list of criminal charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime. Additional charges include making terroristic threats, criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
