Girl charged after Asda staff assaulted in Glenrothes

A girl has been charged after two staff members were allegedly assaulted at an Asda store in Glenrothes, Fife. Police were called to the supermarket on Queensgate following a doorway rammy at around 7.30pm on Sunday, October 11.

Video shows confrontation at store entrance

In a video shared on social media, staff can be seen at the entrance to the store. A customer can be heard screaming and shouting while two workers attempt to usher her out of the store. Another woman in the store is on her phone while holding an arm up as the confrontation continues, and a separate customer walks past.

One staff member in a hi-vis vest pushes the customer out of the supermarket before she appears to repeatedly swing her arm towards him. She then attempts to push her way back into the store but cannot get through the door, which appears to have been closed after she was removed.

Police charge female youth

Police arrived shortly after the video was taken. A female youth was charged in connection with the incident, and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.30pm on Sunday, October 11, officers received a report of the assaults of two people at a premises on Queensgate, Glenrothes.”

“A female youth was charged in connection and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities.”

Asda declined to comment.
