Streamline Shipping Agencies Limited has been fined more than £146,000 after an employee suffered life-altering injuries at its Aberdeen depot. The 43-year-old man was hit by a reversing forklift truck on 26 September 2024, resulting in multiple fractures and a degloving injury that have left him unable to work.
Investigation Findings
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation revealed that the company failed to ensure safe pedestrian and vehicle circulation on site. The lack of proper segregation and traffic management measures directly contributed to the incident.
Court Proceedings
The company pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. At Aberdeen Sheriff Court on 22 May 2026, Streamline Shipping Agencies Limited was fined £146,700 and ordered to pay an £11,000 victim surcharge.
HSE inspector Jane White said: “This incident was entirely preventable. The company’s failure to implement basic safety measures led to a worker suffering life-changing injuries. Employers must ensure that traffic routes are safe for both pedestrians and vehicles.”
