Tragic Stabbing in Queensland: Elderly Couple Attacked in Their Home
Elderly couple stabbed in Queensland home invasion

A quiet neighbourhood in Queensland was shattered by a brutal attack that left an elderly couple hospitalised with serious injuries. The victims, identified as Gry Tomte and Zdravko Bilic, were allegedly stabbed in their own home by an intruder in what appears to be a random act of violence.

Horrific Home Invasion

Emergency services rushed to the property after receiving distress calls from neighbours who heard screams coming from the residence. Upon arrival, paramedics found both victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. The elderly man sustained particularly severe injuries to his upper body.

Police Manhunt Underway

Queensland Police have launched a major operation to track down the suspect, described as a male wearing dark clothing. Detective Inspector Mark Thompson stated: "This was a vicious attack on vulnerable members of our community. We're pursuing all leads and urge anyone with information to come forward immediately."

Community in Shock

Neighbours expressed their disbelief at the violent incident in what is normally a peaceful area. Local resident Sarah Wilkins told reporters: "They were such a lovely couple who kept to themselves. It's terrifying to think something like this could happen here."

Victims' Condition

Both victims remain in critical but stable condition at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Medical staff report the elderly woman is showing signs of improvement, while her partner continues to fight for his life.

Police have increased patrols in the area and are advising residents to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
