A 16-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked with a machete on Duncan Edwards Close in Dudley, West Midlands. Police have launched a manhunt for his attackers, describing the victim as lucky to be alive.
The attack occurred at around 2pm on Saturday afternoon when violence broke out. The teenager was approached by two young men on a moped who allegedly slashed him with a machete before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries to his chest and face and underwent emergency surgery.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport of the Major Crime Unit stated: “This was an horrific attack in the middle of the day and it could easily have resulted in this boy losing his life. We’ve been working tirelessly since then to understand exactly what happened, and who was responsible. I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”
West Midlands Police are reviewing CCTV and mobile phone footage and have increased patrols in the area. They are appealing for public assistance to identify and arrest those involved. The teenager remains in a serious but stable condition.
