A routine flight from London to Turkey descended into chaos after a group of intoxicated passengers began vaping and brawling mid-air, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.
Mid-Air Mayhem
The incident occurred on a Jet2 flight from London Stansted to Antalya. Witnesses reported that a group of rowdy passengers, visibly drunk, started vaping in the cabin despite strict airline regulations. The situation quickly escalated when they began arguing and physically assaulting other travellers.
Emergency Landing
The cabin crew, unable to control the disruptive behaviour, alerted the captain, who decided to divert the plane to Sofia, Bulgaria. Local authorities boarded the aircraft and removed the troublemakers, who now face potential fines and travel bans.
Airline Response
Jet2 condemned the behaviour, stating that such actions endanger the safety and comfort of all passengers. The airline has a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behaviour and is cooperating with authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken.
Passenger Reactions
Other passengers described the ordeal as terrifying. One traveller said, "It was like a scene from a nightmare. They were shouting, swearing, and even throwing punches. I’ve never been so relieved to land."
This incident highlights the growing problem of air rage, with airlines calling for stricter penalties to deter such behaviour.
