A 14-year-old girl chased a thief who snatched a nine-week-old chihuahua puppy from a family home and stuffed it into a rucksack in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire.
CCTV footage shows Jolene Cooper pursuing the suspect after the dog was grabbed and squeezed into a backpack. The rucksack is seen shaking as the frightened puppy attempts to break free, with squealing sounds heard.
Jolene’s grandmother, Jo, 53, said she was 'very proud' of her granddaughter’s actions. Jolene had been tasked with selling a litter of six pups online from their home.
Jo said: 'Jolene had come downstairs and saw the woman bent over in the hallway picking the puppy up. She said it made her worried about giving Jolene the responsibility of advertising and selling the puppies. We’ve given people the chance to buy them and they’re taking advantage of our good nature.'
Thames Valley Police confirmed they received a report of a burglary on Monday, 1 September. A suspect has been identified and is being treated as a person of interest. Enquiries remain ongoing.
