A critical incident has been declared after a car was shot at in South Wales. Police were called to the A48 Clase Road, close to the Castle Bingo hall, in the Llansamlet district, shortly before 7pm on Friday.
Footage circulating online appears to show armed police inspecting an Audi with a smashed driver side window and a rear number plate falling off. One person suffered minor injuries and police are 'not currently aware of any major injuries or fatalities' linked to the incident.
Arrests made
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of affray and a man, 41, has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, South Wales Police said. Both are from the Llansamlet area.
Debris was scattered along the road and there appeared to be damage to the vehicle's right hand door. Traffic was filmed tailing back along the single carriageway road as a helicopter flew overhead.
Police appeal
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones said: 'A policing presence will be visible in the area whilst this investigation is ongoing. It is important that people avoid the area so we can effectively deal with this incident and return the area to normality. We are aware of footage circulating online in relation to this incident.'
Road closures are in place from the Asda roundabout on Upper Fforest Way to A48 Clase Road, as well as A48 Clase Road to the A4067 dual carriageway. Mr Jones requested witnesses and those with information or footage to contact the force online.
