Tragic Discovery at Doncaster Golf Course
In a devastating turn of events, a child has been found dead in a pond at Owston Hall golf course in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, just hours after being reported missing from home. South Yorkshire Police have now launched a major investigation into the incident, which occurred on Monday morning.
Emergency Response and Search Operation
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the child was reported missing in the Skellow area of Doncaster at 9:50 a.m. on Monday, March 30. Eyewitnesses described a massive emergency response, with a police helicopter circling overhead alongside drones, paramedics, and the air ambulance. Officers and additional resources, including police drones and the police aircraft, were deployed in an extensive search effort.
Following this intensive operation, the child was located in a pond on the Owston Hall golf course. Despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not disclosed the age or gender of the child, citing respect for the family's privacy during this difficult time.
Police Statement and Family Support
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: 'Yesterday, Monday 30 March, officers responded to the death of a child in Doncaster. At 9.50am, a report was made that a child had gone missing in the Skellow area of the city. Officers and additional resources including police drones and the police aircraft were deployed. Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, they were pronounced deceased.'
The spokesperson added: 'The child's family has been informed and is being supported by our officers. The thoughts of everybody at SYP are with them at this devastating time.' The golf course, which spans around 80 acres and includes water features as part of its design, has become the focal point of this tragic investigation.
