Teen Takeover in Chicago: Driver Rams Police Car as Crowd Cheers
Chicago Teen Takeover: Driver Rams Police Cruiser

A disturbing video has captured a teen takeover in Chicago, where a driver rammed a police cruiser in front of a cheering crowd. The incident occurred on May 6 at approximately 12:43 a.m., when about a dozen teenagers surrounded a police vehicle. A silver sedan rammed into its front bumper, forcing the cruiser backward as plumes of smoke filled the air from spinning tires. Several teens were seen jumping and cheering as the vehicle was damaged.

Charges Filed

Maximus Wyderski, 19, was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude officers. He also received nine vehicle citations. However, Wyderski denied being part of the takeover or being the driver behind the assault. He claimed his car battery died and that he was falsely accused when he tried to call officers for help.

Second Takeover in Hegewisch

Just two days later, another takeover occurred in the Hegewisch neighborhood, according to Alderman Peter Chico. Footage uploaded by Matt Van Swol showed teens lighting fireworks in a wrecked car at an intersection. Swol described the scene as resembling something from a third world country, not America. Alderman Raymond Lopez echoed this outrage, calling for all involved to be arrested and their cars impounded. He expressed concern that only one person was arrested, suggesting a lack of manpower or willingness to enforce the law.

Previous Incidents

These back-to-back takeovers follow a similar incident on March 25, when teens wreaked havoc in downtown Chicago's Loop district. Videos showed a mob violently stomping a shirtless man and using bear mace and tasers. Private security group Community Intelligence Unit reported that at least one teen was beaten unconscious, vehicles were destroyed, and several people were arrested. Locals say such scenes are becoming more common under Mayor Brandon Johnson, with gangs of teens frequently overwhelming the popular area late at night with little resistance from authorities.

Last year, a similar takeover turned deadly when a 14-year-old was shot in November.
