A three-year-old British boy has died after falling from a fourth-floor window at a hotel in Paphos, Cyprus, on Sunday evening. His father, aged 37, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Incident Details
The child was reportedly playing with his father near a corridor window on the fourth floor when he fell, sustaining fatal injuries. The family had only checked into the hotel the day before, on Saturday, for a summer holiday. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6:40pm local time. The boy was rushed to Paphos General Hospital but later died from his injuries.
Investigation and Court Appearance
Cypriot police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fall. A post-mortem examination was scheduled for 12pm on Monday. The area around the window has been cordoned off. The boy's father appeared before Paphos district court on Monday morning, where officers requested an eight-day remand in custody to assist with their inquiries.
Family Impact
The family also has a five-year-old daughter who was on the holiday. The British Foreign Office has been informed and is providing consular support to the family.
