A British expat has been discovered dead with shotgun wounds at his home in Turkey after relatives raised the alarm when they could not reach him. Stuart Lee Duncanson, 61, originally from Barrhead near Glasgow, was found with fatal injuries at his detached property in Aydin, Turkey, on October 18.
Discovery at the Property
It remains unclear whether a family member or emergency services first came across the scene. The British national had been living with his mother and father at a property in the seaside resort town of Didim on Turkey's west coast. Investigators reportedly discovered his body with fatal shotgun wounds upon entering the property, according to NeedToKnow.
Police suspect Stuart may have taken his own life after confirming no suspicious circumstances were present at the scene. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination as investigators work to establish the exact cause of death.
Health Struggles and Tributes
Stuart had reportedly been struggling with serious health problems in the run-up to his death. A friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told Turkish media: "He was a wonderful person. We will miss him terribly. I just can't believe it."
Another loved one, Lynn Cole, turned to Facebook to share details of Stuart's funeral, scheduled to take place on October 26. She posted: "It is with deep sympathy we announce the sad death of Stuart Lee Duncanson. Stuart's funeral will take place this Monday, 26th October. The family requests we meet at Scarlet Bar in Yesiltepi at 12.45 to leave at 1.15 for the service at Yalikoy at 2.00 pm. It is also requested that, as a celebration of his life, we refrain from wearing dark clothing. Thank you. Also, if anyone needs transport on the day, please private message me."
