Bristol Fence Blocks Living Room Window, Baffles Neighbours

Residents in Bristol have been left bewildered by the installation of a towering wooden fence that entirely obstructs the living room windows of a property. The structure, erected just centimetres from the house in Lockleaze, blocks all natural light and views of the street.

Council Confirms Purchase

Bristol City Council has confirmed to the Mirror that it recently purchased the property, but officials have yet to provide further details about the controversial fence. Neighbours believe the house is vacant, raising questions about the decision-making behind the construction.

Neighbour Reactions

One local resident expressed disbelief: "When I initially saw the fence I thought just the same as everyone else who's seen it really – I mean what were they thinking? It totally blocks the living room window of any light and view. Someone described it as daylight robbery, which did make me laugh!"

The neighbour added that the fence may have been installed due to a narrow gap between the house and driveway, which could pose a hazard for a small child. However, they noted that a simple railing would have sufficed to prevent falls while preserving natural light.

Another neighbour speculated: "This job was probably some computer job created, the worrying thing is the person who picked up the job sheet just did it without asking any questions or using any common sense to think that's not right."

Social Media Mockery

The fence has also drawn ridicule online. One social media user wrote: "Oh my goodness that is beyond stupid!" Another commented: "This is ridiculous, surely the person who put that up must have questioned it? They must have some common sense!"

A local worker noted that the drop from the wall would be considered a hazard, and there is increasing pressure on housing providers to prevent such risks.

Council Statement

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: "Officers are working to understand the details around the installation of the fence and we will share an update as soon as we can."
