A dramatic fire broke out at a multi-storey building in inner Brisbane on Wednesday, leaving one person stranded on the rooftop before being rescued by fire services.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to the property on Little Cribb Street in Milton, approximately 3 kilometres west of the city centre, at around 1:50 PM. A spokeswoman for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed that ten crews were dispatched to tackle the blaze.
Social Media Reports
A local resident posted a photo on social media showing thick, dark smoke billowing above the city, with the caption: 'MASSIVE fire just started around Milton way.' The image quickly circulated online, drawing attention to the severity of the incident.
Rescue Operation
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a person trapped on the roof of the building. Using an aerial safety appliance, the individual was safely brought down to the ground. The spokeswoman explained, 'They have been safely brought down to the ground using one of our aerial safety appliances. The main reason to use the aerial appliance was that it is a construction zone.'
Fire Contained
The fire was brought under control by 2:15 PM, with crews remaining on site to ensure the area was safe. No injuries were reported beyond the rescue, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
