Bomb disposal experts are working on a street in Stockport after the discovery of harmful chemicals, police have said. The chemicals were found following a warrant executed at a property on Friday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) added.
A man was arrested and officers are still at the scene on Brown Lane in Heald Green. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts are also reported to be present.
Police presence and community assurances
One witness reported a large police presence and claimed a police car has been stationed outside a house on Brown Lane for the past 48 hours. Councillors representing the area posted on local Facebook groups to say a police investigation was underway, adding they have been assured by police there is no wider risk to the community.

Another witness said cordons have been put in place and police have maintained a constant presence. Firefighters, they added, have also attended the scene sporadically. The chemicals have not been further described by police.
