The young victims of a devastating house fire in the Blue Mountains have been identified as Myla Summer-Lea Hughes, aged 10, and River William Higgins, aged 3. Tributes continue to pour in for the two children who lost their lives in the blaze.
Details of the Incident
The fire broke out at approximately 2am on Monday at the family home in Bowen Mountain, located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The children's father and four other siblings managed to escape the inferno, but Myla and River tragically perished. The family had been due to move interstate on the very morning of the fire.
Family Circumstances
The children's mother, who has six children ranging in age from 16 to three, was traveling to their new home in Queensland when the fire started. All five survivors were discharged from Nepean Hospital on Tuesday morning after receiving treatment for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire. The community has expressed deep sorrow, with many paying tribute to the young lives lost.
