A bizarre and violent altercation erupted in Westminster after a man with an apparent obsession for hoarding bicycles attacked a neighbour who removed a wheel from his cluttered garden.
The incident, which required police intervention, unfolded when the neighbour attempted to tidy the overgrown outdoor space, only to be confronted by the irate hoarder.
Chaos in the Garden
According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated quickly when the hoarder, described as being in his 50s, became enraged upon discovering his bicycle wheel had been moved. Witnesses reported hearing shouting before seeing the man physically assault his neighbour.
Police Response
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene to de-escalate the situation. A spokesperson confirmed they attended the domestic disturbance and spoke with both parties involved.
"Officers attended and provided suitable advice to both individuals," the spokesperson stated, adding that no arrests were made.
Underlying Issues
Neighbours revealed this wasn't the first time tensions had flared over the man's growing collection of bicycles and other items. The property's garden had become increasingly cluttered, causing concern among local residents.
Mental health professionals suggest that hoarding behaviour often stems from deeper psychological issues that require compassionate intervention rather than confrontation.
