A banana picker has been found not guilty of murdering a grandfather who allegedly paid him $5,000 to amputate his leg and died of blood loss just hours later.
A jury heard that pensioner Kalman Tal, 66, asked several people to cut off his leg, or legs, before John Yalu, 41, agreed to perform the gory task for cash.
While pleading guilty to manslaughter, Yalu had pleaded not guilty to murder. On Friday, a jury found him not guilty of intending to kill or cause grievous bodily harm to the grandfather after less than four hours of deliberation.
More to come.
