Tesco has launched a new premium meal deal for Clubcard holders, marking the occasion with a unique in-store dining experience for one lucky couple. Greg Dwight, 38, and Hannah Hoad, 34, from Essex, were treated to a two-course meal served on fine dinnerware in the aisles of a Tesco store in Watford.
The couple, who have enjoyed over 500 Tesco meal deals together, were waited on by a personal waitress. Their menu included barbecue snack mix, a Rainbow Salmon Poke Bowl, and a Roast Beef, West Country Cheddar and Truffle Mayo Tiger Roll, all presented under silver cloches with sparkling soft drinks in champagne flutes.
Other shoppers were left bemused as they watched the couple dine in the middle of the shop floor. The new premium meal deal, available from Monday, offers upgraded options such as truffle and n'duja flavours, as well as vegan choices like a Mexican bean and sweet potato veg box.
Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said: 'We know that our Meal Deal is hugely popular with our customers, and is a lunchtime staple for millions of people day in, day out. But sometimes you want to treat yourself to something a little special.'
