A controversial social media influencer known as Clavicular, real name Braden Eric Peters, has been charged in Florida after a livestream showed him shooting an apparently dead alligator in the Everglades. The charges, filed in connection with the 26 March live stream, include unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place or residential property.
The charge carries a potential fine of $1,000 and possible jail time or probation, according to local media. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said on X that it was aware of the video and was investigating, though it did not name Peters.
Peters, an Australian known for the practice of 'looksmaxxing'—seeking to maximise physical attractiveness through extreme measures—has faced multiple controversies. In March, he was arrested on battery charges after allegedly instigating a fight involving his girlfriend and another woman, which he later posted on social media.
His attorney told People that Peters was following the instructions of a licensed airboat guide and that no animals or people were harmed. Two others, Andrew Morales and Yabdiel Anibal Cotto Torres, were also charged in the incident. Morales's attorney urged the public not to rush to judgment, noting no allegation of animal injury.
